God open doors in our life from our obedience to his instructions. He will often use that which we may find comfort in and then in other cases, that which we may lack, to bless or answer prayer.
I do not believe in the prosperity gospel founded on the principle of sowing and reaping; what you have sown you shall reap. That may not necessarily be the case, and I would like to share an example.
Several years ago when the job I had was paying $7.25 an hour. My income from that job would not have covered my rent. I had come to realize that God permitted me to be in that situation to depend completely on him. I understood it, I didn't have an expectation because the outcome was not in my hands. It was in his hands. I just had to trust him.
I may have had less than $25.00 to my name. And I asked the Lord a question; “I would like to meet Shelly.” I know he heard me because he asked me to give a small donation to Pastor Rod Parsley. It wasn't much; in fact, I think it was in the neighborhood of $10. The result of my obedience made way for an answered prayer or the question that I asked the Lord to meet myself.
If you feel led to give an offering, ask the Lord what he would have you to give. It is never about the amount but about your obedience.
It was not two months later he blessed with an $80,000 job, which included commission. You never know what God has for you until obedience becomes your sacrifice.
